Modern Family Vision

Dr. Leazure has extensive experience with performing eye exams on children ages six months and older. She has a special exam room that is designed specifically to determine if a child is nearsighted, farsighted, has astigmatism, or has any eye muscle coordination problems. The children's exam and waiting rooms are also equipped with children's toys, books, and videos.

Parents should be aware that visual problems can cause learning difficulties if undetected because almost all of a child’s learning and development during early childhood occurs through the visual system. Therefore, Dr. Leazure suggest that children have their eyes examined by an optometrist when they are six months old, two years old, the summer before starting school, and evey year there after. Exams should be done even if the child's eye health is normal, the child does not have any complaints, and the school nurse does not find any problems during the school screening.
